Claude

I run eight Claude Ultra subscriptions for software engineering, writing, and research.

What it is

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant. Anthropic also makes Claude Code, which its docs call "an agentic coding tool that reads your codebase, edits files, runs commands, and integrates with your development tools"1.

My plan

I have eight Claude subscriptions on the Ultra plan. As of November 5, 2026, Anthropic lists Ultra at $200 a month, so eight of them is $1,600 at list price2.

Anthropic's pricing page says Ultra includes everything in the Max plan, plus no 5-hour limit for verified accounts, 10x Pro usage every week, and $200 a month in API credits, up from $100 on Max2. The Max features it builds on include priority access at high-traffic times, early access to advanced features, and Fable, up to half the weekly limit2. The same page lists Max at $100 a month with 5x Pro usage2.

What it's good at

Claude Code works in a terminal, in VS Code and JetBrains, in a desktop app, and in a browser1. Anthropic's docs say it can write tests, fix lint errors, resolve merge conflicts, build features across multiple files, trace a bug to its root cause, and handle git work such as commits and pull requests1. It connects to outside tools through the Model Context Protocol1.

On the chat side, Anthropic's pricing page lists Research and Projects among what paid plans include2.

The limits Anthropic states are about access. Most Claude Code surfaces need a Claude subscription or an Anthropic Console account1. Anthropic's overview page doesn't list accuracy limits for the tool itself, so I won't invent any here.

What I use it for

Software engineering in Claude Code, writing, and research.

The company

Anthropic was founded in January 2021 and is based in San Francisco, California. Its founders include Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei3. It is a public benefit corporation, and its board is elected by stockholders and by its Long-Term Benefit Trust4.

On funding, Amazon invested $1.25 billion in September 2023, another $2.75 billion in March 2024, and another $4 billion in November 2024, and Google invested $500 million in October 20233. In May 2026, Anthropic announced a $65 billion Series H at a $965 billion post-money valuation, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital5.
