What it is

Suno is an AI music generator. The company calls itself "a music company building the world's first creative entertainment platform"1. Its latest model family, v6, lets you make a song from text, audio, images, or video, and edit one section or one lyric without regenerating the whole song2.

My plan

I haven't started using Suno yet. I'm about to, so nothing here describes my own use, and I'm not naming a plan until I pick one.

As of November 5, 2026, Suno's pricing page has a Monthly and a Yearly toggle, with "Save 20%" on Yearly3. In US dollars:

PlanMonth to monthBilled yearlyCreditsSong downloadsCommercial use
Free$0n/a50 credits per dayNoneNo commercial rights
Pro$10 a month$8 a month ($96 a year)2,500 a month20 a monthIncluded
Premier$30 a month$24 a month ($288 a year)10,000 a month60 a monthIncluded

All figures in that table are from Suno's pricing page3. Pro and Premier get Suno's best models and a priority queue of 10 concurrent generations, and Premier adds access to Suno Studio3. The page says to "See the terms of service for limitations on commercial use"3.

What it's good at

Suno says v6 is "faster, more expressive and higher quality," and describes it as "reliable, precise and consistently delivers polished music across every genre and style"2. It also lists mashups, sampling a riff or isolating an instrument, and building from a vibe or a mix of references2. The v6 models were developed with industry partners including Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe2. Those are Suno's claims, and I haven't tested them.

The limits I can document:

  • Subscription credits "do not carry over from day to day or month to month"3.
  • Free accounts have no commercial rights and no song downloads3. Downloads need a paid account, and each paid tier has a monthly download cap4.
  • v6 and v6-wild are for Pro and Premier subscribers, while v6-mini is for everyone, and Suno says it will retire its previous models2.
  • Suno is in a legal fight with two major labels. Universal Music Group and Sony Music remain plaintiffs in a copyright lawsuit, and a second suit filed on September 18, 2026, covers 60,202 recordings5. A Suno spokesperson called the claims "fundamentally flawed on both the facts and the law"5.

What I use it for

Music generation. I haven't started yet.

The company

Suno says it was founded in 2022 and works across four offices1. Wikipedia lists four founders, Mikey Shulman, Georg Kucsko, Martin Camacho, and Keenan Freyberg, who all worked at Kensho before starting Suno, and describes the developer, Suno, Inc., as being of Cambridge, Massachusetts5. Shulman signs Suno's posts as Co-Founder and CEO6.

Funding: a $250 million Series C at a $2.45 billion post-money valuation in November 2025, led by Menlo Ventures7, then a Series D of more than $400 million at a $5.4 billion post-money valuation in June 2026, led by Bond Capital6. In November 2025 Suno settled with Warner Music Group and announced a partnership to build new models using licensed music4. Wikipedia adds that Suno acquired the concert discovery platform Songkick from Warner as part of that settlement5.
